The DACT team and its fantastic volunteers have been awarded the accolade of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Late last year we were nominated for the award by Chris Long (Ex Chairman of Daventry District), Chris Millar (Leader of Daventry District Council) and Glenda Simmonds ( Mayor of Daventry Town Council). After a visit and a lot of scrutiny by the Queen’s representative we received notification that we were to be awarded this top award. The letter below is the initial communication received. A presentation is to follow.

The Letter Received was as follows:-

Dear Rob Kinning, Daventry Area Community Transport

I am writing to inform you that Daventry Area CommunityTransport was nominated for The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2017. This award was created by The Queen in 2002 to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community. It is the MBEfor volunteer groups. The work your group does for the community was very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee, chaired by Sir Martyn Lewis CBE and I am delighted to inform you that your group has been selected as a recipient for The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2017. The award of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2017 represents a tremendous achievement for your organisation. We hope that everyone involved, and particularly your volunteers, feel immensely proud of the recognition that this Award represents.

DACT Volunteers & Staff and everyone involved in delivering DACT Services can consider themselves the recipient of this award. This is the MBE for a Voluntary Group and all who put in such a massive effort to make DACT services run so well have been given this honour. Take a bow everyone, you all deserve this massive thank you from the Queen. This is also testament to all of the previous Volunteers & Staff who have given their time to get DACT to the level that has led to this award.
