What is Shopmobility?
Shopmobility is a service designed to provide a lifeline for people with temporary or permanent mobility problems. This is achieved by providing people with a wide range of options to hire or purchase mobility aids in addition to providing general support and advice.
What services are provided?
Equipment hire –
Powered scooters can be borrowed on a same-day return basis for people that need to move independently around the Daventry town centre. After payment of your annual registration fee, there is no charge for daily use other than a nominal insurance fee.
Other mobility aids, such as wheelchairs can be hired on a short to medium term basis. This is ideal for anyone that needs to loan a wheelchair due to temporary mobility problems.
Equipment for sale-
Shopmobility has a wide range of equipment for sale. The range includes walking sticks, tri-walkers, wheelchairs, electric scooters, kitchen and bathroom aids, reclining chairs and stair lifts. We also sell second hand refurbished items, including electric scooter and manual wheelchairs etc. You may be eligible to purchase without paying VAT. Support services-
A support service is provided for people that have their own scooter or wheelchairs. Typical support includes mending minor faults and punctures, ordering and fitting tyres and providing helpful information to those calling for assistance.
Who can use Shopmobility services?
People of any age can use the equipment supplied by Shopmobility - the only criteria is that you must have mobility difficulties, whether temporary or permanent.
When is Shopmobility open?
Shopmobility is open Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm. with early closing @ 1.00pm on Wednesdays.
Membership
There is a small annual membership fee
There is a smal insurance fee if borrowing equipment. This fee only has to be paid once in any week irrespective of the number of daily uses.
Rates for hire of other equipment such as manual wheelchairs, travel scooters, rollators, crutches etc for daily/week-end/week periods, please call for latest charges.
How does it work?
Two proofs of identification are required to register as a member - daily hire of equipment is free, except the nominal insurance charge.
Visitors or non-registered members must provide 2 forms of ID (one must be photo ID) - daily nominal hire charge will apply plus a refundable deposit.
